Tasmanian Mountain Pepper is by far believed as the best-tasting pepper type in the world. Originally from the beautiful Tasmanian Island, it is a small shrub. Made of softwood and a peculiar redwood colour it is one of a kind Native species to have in your garden. This bush food has been around for a long time but started to be appreciated more and more in recent years. Both the leaves and the berries from this native can be used to give a kick to any dish and drink. The berries have a sort of spiced and fruity aroma with subtle notes of menthol. The taste is incredible and will surprise you with the growing heat. The leaf are also highly aromatic and still "spicy" as the berries, not the same hot though. Our Tasmanian Mountain Peppers are cutting propagated and will be sold in couples. This species require both male and female for pollination. One male is enough to pollinate with several females. These trees can be grown in cool, almost frosty, temperatures and are resistant to wind. Grows better in week-draining, highly fertilised soil and in half-shaded spots away from hot sun.
