Sydney Round Lime

Round Lime is an Australian type of Lime that grows in the Northern side of Queensland. This fruit has different names including Doona Lime, Gympie Lime, Sticky Lime etc. The fruit has a unique characteristic in the sticky skin which has an incredible herb like aroma. The Australian Round Lime is a totally different type of Lime as is closer to a Finger Lime or a Desert Lime. These fruits have in common the unique feature of having tiny pearls inside filled with juice. This bush lime can easily cross-pollinate with other species of either Native Citrus or common Citrus and create new varieties. Our variety is know as Sydney Hybrid and is the fruit of a cross-pollination between a Round Lime and a Finger Lime. The head of the fruit has a more prolonged shape making it more rare.

This fruit can be used for the distinctive aroma of the zest, or the sour juice, that can enhance the flavours of a dessert, seafood dish or a cocktail.

All our Sydney Round Lime are whole and frozen.
